Manvita Kamath, a popular actress in the Kannada film industry, is currently juggling different mediums in the world of cinema. She recently spoke with Bangalore Times about her experiences, lessons learned from her career, and the support she receives from her husband and his family following their recent wedding.
Manvita expresses her love for performing on the big screen but acknowledges the growing importance of OTT platforms in reaching a broader audience. She values the unique experience of watching movies in theaters and fondly remembers the era of movies running for over 125 days. However, she also appreciates the opportunities presented by OTT platforms, emphasizing their ability to reach diverse audiences without the limitations of targeting specific regions or demographics.
With upcoming projects like the bilingual film "Chakhamakhi," the Kannada movie "One and Half," and another film set for a direct OTT release, Manvita is excited about the diverse range of work in her pipeline. She reflects on the evolving landscape of social media and its impact on perceptions, noting the importance of presenting oneself thoughtfully in the digital age.In the past, I used to shy away from interviews because I felt I didn't have enough to share as news. However, with the rise of social media, I now question whether I need to enhance my presence there. People's perceptions are often shaped by what they see online, and I worry that my true work ethic and dedication to my craft may go unnoticed because I don't always showcase it publicly.
Despite any negativity, I am grateful for the support of my mentors and close friends who have been there for me. My husband, Arun, and his family provide me with unwavering support, unlike my mother who initially discouraged my entry into the film industry. Over time, I have learned to set boundaries and not let anyone undermine my self-worth. I have distanced myself from those who seek to diminish my confidence. My focus remains on doing good work, and I refuse to let negativity dampen my spirit.
